six year old love

There is nothing better for an ailing heart/mind/soul than spending the day with a six year old. I'm down in good ole Fred'burg this weekend for a little visit. Unfortunately, K&D opened their new restaurant last week. No, really that's a fantastically fortunate thing for them, it just turned me into a glorified babysitter today. Am I complaining? HELL NO!!!

I got to sleep late today (which was good since I was up until 3am--still early to sleep for me), then I went to the new restaurant. Hung out there with the kiddo and her 'rents until service started. I asked the Banana what she wanted to do for the day, and we decided to go see a movie in Kerrville. Can you believe you have to drive 40 minutes just to find a movie that's not rated R or PG-13? That's farking ricockulous! Anywho, I took her to see Night at the Museum since I'd already seen it and knew that it was "age appropriate." She LOVED it, and it was still good for me the 2nd time around. After that we went to the local Chinese buffet. (Aside for those that actually know me: yes, I know, I went to a buffet. The biologist went to a food establishment that lets the hoi polloi handle tongs and other utensils whilst sneezing and coughing abound around food in barely adequately warmed metal containers. Supposedly they go there every time they go to Kerrville, so I succumbed to the pressure. If chefs are willing to eat there, I can at least risk it once.) We came back home, watched some Veggie Tales, I read her some stories, and I put her to sleep. All in all and almost perfect day.

"Almost perfect" you ask? Well, as we were heading out of town, my check engine light came on, the light around my D4 was lit and flashing, and the spedometer quit working. Great. On the way back to FB, the spedometer started working again, but I'll have to get it checked as soon as I get home I think. Arrgh! The horrorscope said things were gonna get better. Stupid lying overly generalized astrological mumbo jumbo. Bah!

Better the spedometer that stopped working than the ENTIRE car...not that I've ever had that happen to me or anything....
